MJ Stockdogs, formally known as Mount Joy's Aussies, began in 1996 with an incredible little dog named Mount Joy's Molly! Although Molly really isn't the foundation of my breeding program, she changed my life forever and become my inspiration.

Molly was true to her breed in every way, from temperment, herding ability and complete devotion. She is the reason why I fell in love with the working Australian Shepherd, the old Las Rocosa and Hangin Tree lines that can be found on the pedigrees of the dogs I run today! Molly was an incredibly talented dog with a huge amount of heart. She had absolutely no quit, was a fearless chute worker, fancy low heeler, and could move anything! She would work both ends and become extremely useful on the farm with minimal training. At the end of the day, she would lay at my feet and live for my affection. She would constantly be on guard of the home and family. Although she crossed rainbow bridge many years ago now, to this day I base many of my breeding decisions on my past experience with a dog of her nature. I believe these dogs are becoming few and far between these days and it it my goal to preserve this kind of workability in the breed. Over the years I have learned that just about any dog can earn a title or win a trial with money spent and time, but not any dog can be a useful ranch dog! I trial because it's fun and I always try to remind myself that really, it's only a bonus! Titles do not equal talent in my opinion... seeing is believing!

My goal is to raise dogs who can work in real life first and foremost and therefore many of my puppies go to real working homes where they will have a job to do! Of course I consider other homes as well where they will have their mental and physical needs met. My dogs have health clearances and come with guarantees. Inquiries and visits are always welcome!
